Credit Union’s Emergency Grants Strengthened Food Inventories During The Holiday Season
Charter Oak Federal Credit Union donated $100,000 in emergency food assistance to eastern Connecticut’s food pantries and food centers to help boost food supplies to those in need during the holiday season.
For the second year in a row 20 food pantries received $5,000 this past December for much-needed food supplies at food centers and food pantries serving New London and Windham counties.

The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation recently awarded numerous grants to support 35 programs that address education, economic development, food insecurity, and essential needs in the region.

Charter Oak Federal Credit Union is providing an additional $37,500 in emergency grants to 15 food pantries and meal programs in eastern Connecticut, bringing the credit union’s total food-assistance donations in April to $75,000, the largest one-month donation in the credit union’s 81-year history.

Norwich, CT – The Dime Bank Foundation has announced that their 2018 philanthropic contributions back to the community has now surpassed $200,000 with their most recent gifting of over $75,000 to twenty-five local charities as part of the Bank’s annual “Season of Giving.” Every year at the holidays, donations are made throughout the community by Dime in an effort to help assure that those in need are cared for in life’s most basic needs – food, warm clothing and shelter.
